6.3.0 Release Notes

Hello Garmin Pilot Users!

Garmin Pilot 6.3 enhances our weather offering to include worldwide gridded winds, icing forecasts, along with the ability to configure radar and satellite color palettes. For our European users, this release adds directional airways on our dynamic maps.

As always, we thank you for your continued support of Garmin Pilot and value your feedback.

Worldwide Gridded Winds

Garmin Pilot incorporates gridded winds aloft forecast data, based on the Global Forecast System (GFS) weather model, to provide detailed coverage for your area. You may display global coverage by enabling 'Worldwide Winds Aloft Coverage' in the Data Services section of Settings.

Icing Forecast

Garmin Pilot now displays a graphical depiction of forecast icing conditions in the United States and Canada. Forecast icing conditions are displayed by probability or severity with SLD (Supercooled Large Drops).

From the Map page, select Overlays from the map layer picker and turn on Icing

  • Choose between Severity + SLD or Probability
  • Adjust the time and altitude controls to your preferred settings

Configurable Radar and Infrared Satellite Color Palettes

Radar and infrared color palettes are now configurable, allowing pilots to choose the color intensity of returns.

From the Map page, select Radar/IR Color from the map layer picker. Tap the info button to view the color palette options and make your selection.

Directional Airways

The direction of the airway is now displayed on the IFR dynamic maps in Europe to assist pilots in preflight planning.
